3D is about nine times as difficult to create and takes about 18 times as long to render.bogiesan

The question is a bit insubstantial. What do you want to do wit this software that FCP can’t do for you now?
Canto Cumulus is a gold standard for two — no, three things: Remarkable breadth, complexity and incredibly lousy customer service.
But Cumulus is a digital asset manager that will track and catalog any digital file.

We mistakenly assume Steve Jobs has the same irrational passion for Macintosh that we do.
He does not.
Steve Jobs is all about Apple making money. If Apple can make huge money porting Apple’s professional applications to XP, Jobs will do it. Period.bogiesan

April 6, 2006 at 2:14 pm in reply to: So now that Intel Macs will run Windows…….FCP XP edition?> I think they will stick with FCP on Macs. This way they ensure that people will only use Macs to run FCP. Getting the Macs to use Windows software will get the PC people to buy that Mac, and then use FCP on it.< And yet, who would have thought that Apple, if anyone, would release BootCamp so soon. And as a FREE download? Speculating on Apple's business models and software/hardware plans is great fun but a complete waste of time. Whatever Apple is these days, it's all about interesting surprises. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

The manual and the tutorials that come with AE7.0 are far more valuable than anything you can buy since they’re already on your system.
For beginners, I’d go with the Adobe CIB for AE7 but you can find the CIBs for AE5, 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 at discount if you shop carefully. Also look for Adobe AE Studio Secrets volumes at deep discount. The interfaces have changed but the basic functions are constant.
They Meyer’s series of books is the Gold Standard for AE, for sure, but they’re intense. I don’t think most people get much out of them unless they already know the application fairly well.
Look for Angie Taylor’s AE5.5 book on deep discount. Try eBay for Total Training’s VHS and/or DVD packages for AE3 through 6.5. Fabulous stuff, timeless expertise.
