We’ve been dealing with those questions for many years but I can’t recall anyone actually publishing a specific tutorial for the air disturbance and SCHLIEREN effects.bogiesan

Our upgrades were in that lower price range. We have a huge number of users of a wide range of Adobe products so we use a contract reseller.
Instead of calling Adobe’s know-nothing customer service people (who may or may not work for Adobe) , try using a respected reseller. The price is the same and they usually have the correct answers.

Audio should not be a problem. Regardless of the frame rate, one second of footage is still one second of time.

A bit of research on the phenomenon of lightning discharge might help, too. Although a film audience expects to see something other than reality when it comes to natural phenomenon. Lightning is an instantaneous pulse but folks tend to think of it as a slow-moving beast.
Some good lightning effects were in the original Close Encounters of the Third Kind. They were done before digital effects were the norm.

There are others. A great book to have at your bedside would be Angie Taylor’s AE7 tome. The lighting section is playful.

Rolling output has always been an issue with the Sony 1800 beta decks. All three of ours have done that since Ye Olde Media 100 days, as long as we’ve had them. Affects nothing, just annoying as heck. If you put a scope on the output you’ll see it’s stable and, of course, the image coming into your capture card/box should also be stable.

see apple.com Made For Mac and search for QT VR tools. There are many suppliers and mfrs of camera mounts, software and rendering systems. This is an enormously COOL way to put video and photography on the Web. Very fun. Very difficult.
I have not opened it up yet but there are “3d capabilities” within Photoshop CS3. I have no idea what that means yet.
