A lame game intro? Never saw any “dark blue text.”

  • There’s no reason to crosspost to multipl AE forums till you know you’re not going to get an answer.

You got this over at adobe.com:

You simply need more character value and offset animators before the actual randomization and then use group modes like intersect and difference to limit the range of characters that will be usable by the actual type on effect. Sure, one could do it all with expressions as well, but that sounds like the long way round…

December 11, 2009 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Editing Estimate

This is a topic every producer faces with the same open-mouth stare.
How can an estimate be given for something that has no specifications?
How long doe sit take erect a building? Well, how big is the building? What’s it made o? How big a crew do we have? what’s the weather like at the construction site?
Your estimate is ridiculous, it’s not even a good place to start. Your chart begins with a series of questions that determines the content, structure, and competency of the entire crew (producer/writer/shooter/audio/editor) and then moves on to an editing estimate.

Dell gets mentioned more than Apple around here.

Nice experiential rant, Michael, hope this thread comes up often in in future searches.

One of the best examples of the worst D4N work in a feature has got to be “Miami Vice,” many cigarette boat aerials.

You don’t say what format you’re trying to key but even the best keyers cannot handle ever situation without some conventional remedial actions.
You can apply keying filters more than once to a layer.
You can apply a mask or roto to another copy of the same layer.

Easily researched. There have been dozens of threads here on the cow and on hundreds of other filmmaking sites. Adding the filters is a no-brainer compared to the planning of the shots to avoid doing silly stuff that telegraphs “fake.”

You’re not the first but you just didn’t look very far.
Open the online manual for FCP and enter BATCH. See what comes up. you’re looking specifically fro BATCH EXPORT.

You might also look up “disco ball” in various AE tutorial sites. it uses only the stock filters but it will not create true, 3D, volumetric light beams. Fro that you must have a more sophisticated filter like Trapcode.

You cannot easily edit h.264 without huge hardware support, it’s a highly compressed streaming or constant playback release format but it requires intense calculations to build individual frames. If you want o avoid rendering you must transcode it to something that does not require constant rendering.
