Vegas makes short work of electron pathways and atomic structure simulations. Vegas is a 2D layer which can be rotated in z-space. Vegas has built-in decay that appears like motion blur. You’d use two copies or two layers, one to get the electron particle and another to create the trail.

Vegas is remarkably cool and way underused. You just need art work that presents what Vegas calls a “contour.” A simple ellipse or circle will do. I use Illustrator layers.

Brian Maffit, from Total Training, created Vegas (and Shatter, WaveWorld, Colorama, Card Dance, many more) and had fabulous video tutorials on electron paths he used to create his Atomic Energy Effects Company logo. That stuff might be available online someplace.

December 13, 2008 at 4:20 pm in reply to: perspective corner pin -> 3D Data :HELP :

[ted harisson] “I am trying to extract the 3D data of a shot I made.
I shot a window of a house, and I want to replace the inside of the house (seen from the window) with my own footage.
Thing is, I need to know where the inside of the house layer should be positioned in order to make the look reliable. “

There is no 3D data in a video shot and Corner Pin is a 2d distortion effect, it has no z component. Unless you’re using tracking pins but that’s another topic.

You’re just going to cut a hole in your wide shot (level of precision up to you) and put a layer behind it in 2D. How you adjust the perspective on the interior shot or movie ti around is up to you. Best to shoot it with the exterior’s camera location in mind.

You haven’t said anything about your exterior’s other values. If the camera is hand held or moving, you’re off to another project that has little to do with this post.

this form the Adobe AE site:

After Effects comes with several third-party plug-ins, including Foundry Keylight, Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse, and the Cycore FX plug-ins. Some plug-in installers—including those for Keylight and Color Finesse—install documentation for the plug-ins in their subfolders in the Plug-ins folder. Documentation for Cycore FX plug-ins is available on the Cycore website:

CC Time Efx and Time Blend. But those characters were probably greenscreened or roto’d into the shot. You can’t apply these effects selectively without masking or otherwise isolating the affected pixels.

Note those CC time effects are kinda goofy, take lots of experimentation. You will need two copies of Time Efx, one makes a copy, one pastes the copy in behind the other one.
You may laos want to apply CC force Motion blur as well as Echo. You will want to precomp the Time effects before trying to add Echo.

the documentation for Cycore is on the installer disk and you may not have copied it to your drive. cycore has some outdated but fascinating tutorials on their site.

December 12, 2008 at 11:23 pm in reply to: Line Project

    > One level for line will be the best… what I have to do? < Yes, create your AI as a layered file. Import it cropped. It's confusing, the manual explains it for you. You will animate each layer individually using a mask or, if you know how to do it, use the path as a stroke effect. bogiesan

December 12, 2008 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Lazer Beam eyes

You will need to motion track the two eyes and use the data as the source points for the beam effect.
You can make beams out of masked colored solids or Shapes>Neon Rectangle, maybe add some lens flares or sun beams, see the various Generators.

After Effects has several cool ways to create and animate beams.

December 12, 2008 at 9:34 pm in reply to: particle emitter and falling leaves

I’ve got a nice st of falling leaves coming from a line off the top of the screen.
    1. Can’t get them to appear in different z-space, they’re all at the same plane.
    2. Can’t get the leaves to stop moving or turning once they hit the ground level.
    3. They march toward the camera.

Very frustrating. I hate Motion, but, hey, that’s just me.

No one seems to know what’s going on with this. there are several threads on the adobe.com site for AE support. conflicting and mutually exclusive advice and arguments.

Whew, I have NEVER seen that happen.
Sorry not to be any help guys, you’re using a part of the FCP interface I’ve never seen, I guess.
