Line Project
Hy, I have to figure how to start a work…
This is the project: I have to create a wireframe of an house, after that the wireframe will be imported in after effects and the lines animated one by one…
ps: the wireframe that I have to create is only formed by lines black on white.
1 – I can create a fake 3d wireframe in illustrator or freehand, but when imported in AE the project is treated as a normal image and its’ impossible to control and animate line by line. So, what I have to do to maintain all the lines separated? One level for line will be the best… what I have to do?
2 – If I have to create the wireframe with a 3d software have I to use Maya, 3d studio or others? A question, with for example a Maya file, the project will be imported as a group of lines all in one level (as the illustrator file) or maybe can I import one line for level?
3 – In your opinion can I draw the project as 3d or 2d directly in AE?

> One level for line will be the best… what I have to do? < Yes, create your AI as a layered file. Import it cropped. It's confusing, the manual explains it for you. You will animate each layer individually using a mask or, if you know how to do it, use the path as a stroke effect. bogiesan

so have I to create a lever for each line in Illustrator and then import in AE?
To animate the lines I know what mask and strokes do, but it’s not my case…
I have to move the lines in a 3d space in a sort of confusional moviment and then finish the moviment in the right position of the original wireframe.
Any help?
What is the right way to do?Another question, what 3d program works better with AE? Is this the right case in your opinion to use it?

Dave’s right – use AE’s Stroke to animate the lines.
Prepare your house like this – just as a general guide –
Seperate the house into five parts – one for each side, top, left, right, back, front. Render these seperately and import them into AE. Then use Stroke to draw on the lines.HTH
