Wrong terminology. Search for “film rollout” and “light leak” although they are slightly different artifacts. These have become dangerous affectations, applied as a transition where no film fogging would have occurred during a shoot on 16 or 35mm. Like a swoosh pan or cube rotation, transitions like this need some rational reason to be in your piece IMNSHO.
We see this question often here and in all of the video NLE forums. The easiest solution is to locate the cheapest version and buy it. If you want to use it more than a few times in your production you need more than one version. or it just gets silly.

LCD? I thought they were LEDs. Just powerd mine up. I suppose they could be backlit LCDs. Hmm, every other row is kinda dark. Rats.
Yar, might be cheaper to replace the deck than the display. Ever gotten inside one of these things? Ain’t pretty.

Not a clue. but I’d create a lossless version of the piece you want to test and export it just once.
You really don’t have to do any of this research yourself, it’s all been done. Google “Jan Ozer” and study his published articles form several magazines. You can confidently buy his incredibly dense and all-inclusive DVD if you expect to be doing lots of compression for many different clients and formats.

I broke all of my Boris generators when I went to Leopard last week. Hitting any control on Title 3D crashes FCP6+.
Anyone checked Boris site for an update? They do that sometimes.

as I pointed out in the original thread on FCP, you must find out how the display machine works. That determines everything.
If you don’t have AE, you can do the gig in FCP but, no, man, there are no recipes. They all depend on you having a known and reliably invariable pathway form FCP to the delivery system. If, as you say, there’s no to talk to, you either go get the delivery system and learn how it works or you deliver a single, full screen video track and make it clear to your clueless client that that’s all they’re paying you for and, since they’re NOT paying you to learn the digital signage business, it’s someone else’s problem to get it up on their screens.bogiesan

Do you know how to use both of these applications equally?
If so, determine where the strengths of each can be exploited.
If not, concentrate on the one you understand which is probably Flash or you wouldn’t be asking about AE’s vector handling capabilities.Those insurance spots seem to be a complex marriage of Flash, stock footage clips, some 3D models, and something like After Effects as the compositor. AE might have also been used for some of the explosions, color tweaking, split screens, maybe some of the 3d planar moves and zooms.

You could have also changed the sequence settings to DV.
Rednering out of AE using Animation is a standard practice but it’s only necessary if you’re using the alpha or need to exchange files with another user on a separate system.
Animation is one of the original, lossless codecs and it is the only non-proprietary codec of which I aware that carries am alpha flawlessly.bogiesan
