[Dotan Stern] “i tried the align tool but it didnt made any more circles is there a way to quicly do that?
also is there a way to that on masks or just layers?”Align will not create new layers or copies of existing layers.
Open the online help to Shape Layers, might be faster for you.
Radio Waves can be used to create lots of circles (actually polygons with lots of sides).

[Timothy Ford] “Whenever I render a clip out through After Effects and try bringing into a Final Cut Pro sequence, the result is always very low-res. There’s lots of aliasing on text and the whole thing just looks like garbage.
I’ve tried multiple variations on the render settings, but it’s always the same result, even when exported from Final Cut as QT files. The clips coming from AE look fine when played with Quicktime and when dropped into other NLE’s.”
If the file plays well in QT Player and plays well in the FCP Browser’s viewer, then After Effects is creating a file you can use. You have not indicated the comp settings or the render settings out of AE nor have you inidcated the sequence settings in FCP.
If the file is good out of AE, then your render controls are set improperly in FCP. See the prefs options.

January 30, 2009 at 5:31 pm in reply to: Configuring an editing station for documentary? My two cents:
I disagree that there is a legitimate reason–something more pressing than the director’s or photog’s ego–to store every freakin’ frame online. Just because you can get 4TB for a couple hundred bucks doesnt mean that is an enhnacement to the production’s eiditng processes.
A low-rez capture run or an offline VHS dub with timecode to create the list for the first capture run is a time-honored workflow for doco production. You can reduce your storage needs by 50-80% with only a wee bit of discriminating thought and taste.
Even Frontline doesn’t have every frame online.

All we know at the moment is the 3870 seems to be the current rage.
Scroll down a few pages and you will see the same question asked many times. This is the current favorite but we have no real idea if it will help in any particular combination of hardware, OS, and file types.
Motion is, for the most part, all about unrealistically high expectations, a marketing position. You get used to it or you go back to another product like After Effects that behaves within expected parameters. Even if they’re not any better than Motion’s at least I know what to expct!

Just search the forum, we see this inquiry about twice a month. Question also appears in all of the NLE forums regularly.
The best source is ARTBEATS or any of several online stock clip sources. Creating one yourself is way more trouble than it’s worth if you need it to be real.bogiesan

January 29, 2009 at 6:55 pm in reply to: How do you protect an area from getting keyed-out?Just duplicate the layer, put a mask around the green logo, move it on top.
You may need to motion track or keyframe the position of the mask. but ti doesn’t need to be precise.bogiesan

allow be to add two tips to Mike’s good explanation.
Say the clip you want to remap is 30 seconds long in real time. Add some handles to it so it starts 5 seconds before you need it to and ends 5 seconds later.
Get to know the graph for time remapping. It will help you visualize the speed changes in terms of velocity, frames per second, and how the Beziers will help you smooth out the speed changes.bogiesan

[Jason Milligan] “I recommend researching “luma mattes.”
An approach (not the only approach):
Duplicate the footage.
(The lower copy should be made gray using whichever approach you prefer, the top copy full color)
Use a separate piece of video as a luma matte to transition the color in.
This matte can be hand-animated or you can use a piece of video such as the ink drops in Video Copilot’s Riot Gear collection. “Excellent.
Do the homework and then figure out how you would shoot it so the luma matte interacts with the talent.
for instance, leaving colorized footprints is a bit different than waving a paintbrush. what would you fill the footprints with? How ill you maintain the integrity of the mattes that create the footprints if the camera is moving, tracking, or zooming?bogiesan

Many of those wedding and event shooters are either quite open about their techniques or totally closed. Take a few hours to google the event shooters organizations and trade shows. You can probably find online tutorials for many techniques. There is a magazine, EVENT DV, that caters to these professionals and their site markets training DVDs as well as having links to online freebies.
Remember that everything these artists do changes freakishly when their clients view the fabulous work on crappy TV sets or improperly configured HD rigs.
