If you do isos, how will you review 24 hours of material in less than 3 hours?
You must do a live switch to tape for backup. You must do live switch into the Mac and hope nothing happens. You will need at least two people watching the show very carefully for the highlights and doing scrupulous timecode notes.
when you hack it up in FCP you will have only one shot to record out to DVD. Get a DVD recorder from Costco.Prebuild all of your graphics, you will have zero time for them. There will be no supers, you do not have time to render them.
I say, run away! This project is doomed and you will destroy your relationship with the client.

Everyone was new to this stuff at one time or another. The cinematic techniques used in Ryan and Gladiator have been discussed at great length for several years so a search on various cinematography sites will yield several possible ways for you to fake it.One method is a combination of shooting at very high shutter speeds to capture hard images with no trace of motion blur and then using a frame-dropping render using something similar to strobe. In AE you’d want to explore Time Posterization.

We see this topic very few weeks so scroll down or search. I’m not sure if anyone has ever posted a definitive answer. On my system, it appears be caused by applying any filter to the text.

Way back in the olden days before there were cameras in AE, we faked this by placing multiple passes of Particle World on top of each other (different layers, not duplicates of the effect) and applied a bit of Gaussian to one or more of them.

do you mean you’re looking for presets or do you want a stand alone application used a plugin?
Boris, Trapcode, Digital Anarchy, and Zaxwerks are the plugs but I don’t know who makes any of these things anymore, check Red Giant software.
Presets? I just try to modify the hundreds that come with AE. What more could you want that isn’t already there?bogiesan

Not much we can do from here. Your use of the term “cutting off” suggests you don’t have adequately sized your MrMercury layers.
A 3D scene requires you understand AE’s version of 3D.
And that assumes you understand how to precomp 3D layers into your main comp.

.dv is not supported by FCP but it is supported by iMovie.
Convert your movies to .mov using the DV codec, not DV Stream, which produces the .dv files.bogiesan

so it’s the data storage device that’s the problem, not the file.
You could try a data recovery application like Date Rescue. But I doubt you’re going to be able to repair these.
Guessing the card was maybe not correctly formatted before you started recording or it might even be from a different generation of chips and is not really compatible with your rig.bogiesan

[Ed Dooley] “I’ve been shooting HDV for a couple of years now, and I don’t know why people still make those comments. We edit easily, we create MPEG-2s and DVDs easily, and they look far far better than our Beta-SP videos did. Editing in HDV is so common now, and so easy. If you want to compare the 4:2:0 or 1 to 4:2:2 formats, well that’s a whole other thing. 🙂
