a layer-based motion graphic equivalent is without doubt After Effects.
There are particles in lastest versions and for versions before the particles engine was implemented, there are particle plugin like Particular which you could give a try.

actually you link two events together, not tracks. You link a video and 1 and/or 2 audio tracks together by selecting them and go in the modify menu>link or press command-l.

hi,

in vegas 8, there is a script that allows exactly that. A Batch renderer script. So either you have the formats already available as templates and you just check their case, either you create your own versions of the templates. And then you just have to load that script, select the different formats, the location of the final renderers and let him do the job.
