Any recommendations of which ProRes format/setting for avchd 1080 29.97? I wouldn’t want to overkill or degrade and I’m a transcoding/prores noob! :0)

I should’ve mentioned , it’s not ‘that’ old, it was definitely recorded onto an sd card and was digital.

December 14, 2016 at 2:08 am in reply to: Prelude/Premiere not recognizing AVCHD as such from Vixia g40Thanks guys, this is the exact procedure we’re following to no avail with the latest Premiere Pro CC release. Weirdly sometimes when we go into the folders and import an individual mts it snaps the audio in for that file and sometimes it doesn’t.
For now I feel like a jerk recommending these cameras after our boss mentioned hearing about avchd being a pita. It’s been nothing but headaches so far!

It’s funny how something hits you over the head. We were outputting to web h264 but using the HQ+Match Source setting. Switching the field to “progressive” on output removes the interlacing we’re seeing.
Does this have the net effect Shane was mentioning above, of throwing out half of the fields? Is there a more advanced procedure to retain some quality (plug-in, app, or otherwise), or is the solution simply “don’t shoot interlaced if your destination is not designed for it”?

I usually do motion stuff when I’m in the video world and almost never deal with acquisition, however in this case I’m stuck with it. Is there any recommendation for transcoding this type of footage, or a method of dealing with it, such as the conform to progressive I mentioned? When I conform to progressive do I not just drop some frames, or whats the best approach here?

We also downloaded the installer but there’s no uninstall option.

Aaaaand again, I found it!
Theres a setting for “all masks using modes”.
Thanks for helping me to figure it out! 🙂

Crap, nevermind, it does work.
I am using this in the context of generating a scribble style with the generate>scribble FX, and it seems scribble doesn’t respect the mask settings.
-
For whatever reason that doesn’t seem to be working! It sets the masks to difference by default, but whether their set to add or difference, or whether I move the hole layer up or down in the stack, it doesn’t want to knock it out.
I figured the same thing.

Any way to get the naming tool to name iteratively?
