I’m working on some videos right now for a corporate client that were captured on two Canon Vixia HF G40’s in AVCHD (PF29.97, 24MBPS 1080). There’s about 2 hours of fooage total (x2 cameras) and the video’s themselves will be about 5 minutes consisting of two angles and some mograph overlays.

My question is, is it worth transcoding to an intermediary, and if so, which one for maintaining high quality, or rather not degrading it at all as the g40’s are ok but not amazing picture to start with.

The last ones we did in this format had 4 angles and things got really choppy after 3 avchd clips were stacked and cut up.

EDIT: This will be a multicam sequence, which of course adds a layer of data complexity.

Any input is much appreciated as I’ve got to ingest this footage today!

    Thanks in advance!
