August 19, 2005 at 8:33 pm in reply to: Kona 2 and FCP 5/Tiger slow to update video…I have also noticed sluggish response for the three way CC.
I used to use the option F12 key to refresh frames but it seems that the dashboard has taken over that keyboard shortcut.
This is on a brand new, clean install of Tiger and FCP 5.0. On my Aurora system the 3wayCC response is immediate.

matt,
thanks for your post. The PCI express product is the one I was reffering to in my lost post. I had heard that the mulitbridge was recalled. The PCI express multibridge looks like and amazing product and it was adertized on the front page of your site for quite some time.
My original post into the BMD forum was this
https://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_read_post.cgi?forumid=124&postid=852750
I know I did not mention the Express PCI part of it, but as you can see no oone responded to my post there. It is good to know that you are very cose to shipping now. I hope it is a successful product for you.
Thanks,
David

August 19, 2005 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Anyone know if Murderball and others were shot using 16×9 lens adapters or squeeze….24p?Jan,
Isn’t it the DVX 100 that did not have the squeeze mode. I am pretty sure the 100A does have the electronic squeeze mode built in.

Perhaps the most succinct answer I have seen to this question. Thanks, I’m going to print that one off for reference.

I agree. Going with the SDX is a great idea because it is a great camera, and the comments about vapourware are ture. The stuff has to be out and in peoples hands for a while. We have to see workflows and hear the good a nd bad stoies of using this format.
You will not go wrong with the SDX 900.

Yes Bob thanks,
I have a beta record PVW2800 deck, so I have to consider that too. and so that is why I went with the la. I can still capture component betacam footage to any codec I want through the LA and use the KONA 2 with whcihever codec I choose. Thanks.

Yes walter,
I got the full “bling bling” package with this g55 and a free ipod that captures HD footage too. It;s called the ipod U2_HighDefjam. You will only see it on “Pimp my ride”, “Overhaulin'” and at select NASCAR races.

Is this a consideration?
Since you are going with an HD card you may want to think about the New P2 panny camera that is coming out. It will give you HD capability, technically you will only need a DV deck. I know that the chips are smaller, but you will get 24P performance plus Varicam style 4 to 60 FPS and all the cinelooks of the SDX and Varicam.
It might be a bit early to jump, but I have been looking at the P2 stuff and the huge drawback with the camera is a lack of interchangable lenses, but it is a bit smaller risk than the 30K for the SDX. With about 15K you could get 4 P2 cards and a field drive that downloads the P2 cards when they are full. tape on the other hand is just plain old reliable.
If you are looking at this kind of investment you might want to talk to your panasonic dealer to figure out just what kind of workflows you can do in P2 land, of course none of it will be released for a few months but it will be interesting to see if P2 hits.

Sorry walter,
I obviously meant a KONA 22 on a G55. You know the quad pentium processor G55 that Apple is releaseing next year.

As a recent owener of AJA products I have to say that the support is very, very impressive. Though I have recieved great support over the years at Aurora Video systems too :). I wish these companies could get together, I think it would be an awesome match!
I was blown away by the professionalism and responsiveness from AJA when I had a tiny problem out of the gate. Really top shelf service, the kind nobody would expect and rarely recieves. I think that is why I went with AJA over decklink HD products, the experiences I had heard from AJA users.
The products are well thought out and the system has been very sable. Hats off to AJA. The KONA 22 on a G5 is as long a term investment as you can buy for FCP right now.
