Early test is showing that after the update FCP X did not like a SUB FOLDER inside the PROJECTS folder.
With the projects REMOVED from the SUBFOLDER, the beach ball hang does not repeat itself.

Great Idea.
Maybe submit that as a feature request to Apple.
I think a bit more control over where things are and how the “autosave is handled” would be welcomed by many pros. Its a part of our work, something we a just used to.

I just went through this very painful exercise.
30 minute film was in jeopardy for a couple of weeks but now it is back on track through much trial and error.
More details are needed, but I would suggest getting in touch with Apple.
What version
What codecs
What effects
How long is the project?
Have you backed up the old versions folder?
Are there any files in the back up folder?David
