The ipod can be enabled in hard disk mode and any leftover space can be filled with any data (not captured to but just for transporting purposes). I do this all the time between home and work and still plug my ipod into my car and listen to my music.
You just have to make sure enable hard disk use is checkd in your ipod preferences and it can still stoe music, play it back and store data too.

You might also want to try using an easy setup.
If you are capturing DVNTSC for example then use the easy setup for DVNTSC and you will see a dramatic reduction in file size.

You would have to ensure that the video you export is in the Mpeg2 format. This is a slow format to encode to but it is the only one that DVDSP understands without rendereing.
MPEG2 is the DVD standard.

These thread always turn into stupid pissing matches.
It is best to go to each products web stie, compare the features from the PDF brochures and then ask specific questions in this forum about AJA and go to the decklink forum and ask specific questions about that product to, this will help avoid long threads that eventually turn into insults.
All I will say is that I know from experience that the AJA products work very well with Final Cut Pro. The features work as advertized.
The support is outstanding, probably one of the best I have received for any product.
You can feel safe for three years with the AJA warranty.
It is very difficult to ask for a comparrison for competing products as most people in this forum may not own both. I encourage others who reply to this thread to answer AJA specific questions so that we do not have to get into the messiness of product comparrisions.
Bob Zelin is a reseller and so he has probably installed both systems, so his advice would be worthwhile and good.

I fail to see how blacking the tape would help. I am not sure if the DVX has a flying erase head but I am pretty sure it assemble records rather than insert. Plus this is doubling up the number of record hours if you use the camera to black the tape.

The importatnt thing is that your GFX are created for the final frame size. You could paste it into a 10bit timeline, but you might be better off to media manage the project create a 10-bit sequence and reconnect the media and re-render from there. The most critical thing in this project would be to be anal about file naming and be sure not to use any freeze frames.

Try to export using compressor and use a preset for file streaming.
How long is the movie. If it is very long you might be outof luck in getting it to e-mail size.

Nest the sequence into another sequence and bring the levels down. That is the fastest way to affect levels on the whole mix.
