one more question… do I have to use thunderbolt connection to access the footage on the camera, or can I take the SSD drive out and put that into an SSD drive reader and use eSATA to access the footage? Because I cannot find a thunderbolt card, or thunderbolt adapter cable as of yet, and neither of my machines have a thunderbolt port.

Thank you both for your input. I live and work on Maui in Hawaii, and I am very excited about the camera. I think it will be a great next camera for me as I currently work with an HVX200. I will be upgrading my RAM, and I will look into what I can do about a thunderbolt adapter or card for my Mac Pro.

When I change it to square it changes the timeline aspect ration to 4:3, and the choices are grayed out so I cannot adjust it.

When I look at the timeline in preview it has black borders all the way around the video, like it is not filling the screen, though the aspect ratio appears correct. It looks like what happens when you take a standard def 16×9 image and drop it into a high def 16×9 frame.

The Interpret footage options I get are as follows:

Uste the assets Pixel aspect ration: SD NTSC Widescreen (1.2)

Or I can choose to conform it to one of the following:

    Square Pixels (1.0)
    SD NTSC
    SD NTSC Widescreen
    HD Anamorphic

I dont get any options that are 16×9

  • Thank you… thats what the problem was… I had originally used the version from the panasonic website, but I re installed using the one from the FCP 5.1 instal disc, and it now works perfect.
