    Thanks everyone!
Great input. Gives me somethings to think about for the future.

I do have the left and right sides of the Xserve being used as separate RAIDs. So they are not striped together as 50.
I realize this will cause the transfer rates to be slower but I was not expecting it to be as slow as my test results.

Just put in 7 new 500GB drives into the left side (slots 1-7).
There is nothing on the drives.
The other side of the RAID (slots 8-14) are being used as a separate RAID.

I followed AJA’s spec sheet for setting up the new RAID.

    OSX Extended (not Journaled)
Allow Host Cache Flushing is disabled

I was thinking the same thing. I have the camera in house today, so I plan on trying to import from the camera direct to the Mac vs using the PC as a go between.
    Thanks

It was strange. The first time I tried to mount the cards (via the camera) only one card showed up. After shutting down the computer and the camera both disks showed up.
Transfered them both over and it worked fine.
Thanks for the responses and advice. I guess if all else fails shutdown and try again. Next time I will try that first instead of panicking.
    Thanks again

It really does seem like it is all based around the glow plug-in.
I will try reinstalling the plug-in. Good idea. Thanks for the tip.
