Kris thanks for your time on this it is appreciated. One last question.. do you know if “dip to white” preset behaves the same in cs6 i.e leaving you with black and not white ?

At the end of a clip not as a transition, I just want the clip to fade to white and stay white at the end of the clip not dip back down to black which is what is currently happening

In cs5.5 If you work on a 1080 sequence, edit, grade and sharpen at 1080 then nest the sequence into a 720 sequence, resize the nested sequence to fit the 720 dimensions and apply sharpening on the 720 sequence to counter the loss of resolution, it does not apply that sharpening as a second separate sharpening on the 720 footage. It has the same effect as applying sharpening twice on the 1080 size then shrinking the sequence to 720. It’s an order of operation problem in premiere.

I am trying to find out if some of the new functionality in cs6 will allow for the correct second application of sharpening on the 720 sequence and not a simple double dose of sharpening on the 1080 footage.

my pc is powerful i7 with 24gig ram

I think they must be dropping this feature in cs6 because it doesnot work on all systems or its buggy ? what a pity !

Just saw this saying that this very useful psd video link feature will no longer be supported in premiere cs6 https://www.video2brain.com/en/videos-13091.htm video will need to be rendered out from photoshop and imported to premiere !

just when I was thinking that maybe premiere cs6 would solve my problem :o(

Ann, thank you for helping me out on this just to confirm that I am doing the same as you..

I import the video clip into Photoshop convert it to a smart object then perform a shadow highlight adjustment and save as a psd in the same folder as the video file.

I drag the psd into premiere and when prompted I select merge all layers
I drag the psd to timeline and attempt to scrub through the “psd video file” but I see just a still from the video not scrubbing video
Is this the process you tried and you do see scrubbing video ?

Jon, yes It is definitely a smart object I just tried with a second video clip and repeated the process but still just seeing a “still” in premiere

Thanks again Ann but it still isn’t giving the result expected.

The first option is merge all layers, it then brings in the psd that is the duration of the video clip but when I try and scrub through it is like a still image from the video not moving video.

Thanks Ann, but I was referring to using the psd file without rendering out a video from Photoshop. AE has the ability to bring in the psd as footage and I was under the impression that premiere could as well I am just not sure how to do it
