How can I import a psd as footage in Premiere

In Photoshop under File/export/render movie you will find several options to save your video clip.

Thanks Ann, but I was referring to using the psd file without rendering out a video from Photoshop. AE has the ability to bring in the psd as footage and I was under the impression that premiere could as well I am just not sure how to do it

OK now I understand, just import the psd. A dialog box will show up and choose the first option.
Once in Premiere and you want to make some changes right click and Edit Original. This will bring you back into PS.

Thanks again Ann but it still isn’t giving the result expected.

The first option is merge all layers, it then brings in the psd that is the duration of the video clip but when I try and scrub through it is like a still image from the video not moving video.

I do not know why it is not working for you, I just tried it in CS5.5 and works perfectly.

Ann, thank you for helping me out on this just to confirm that I am doing the same as you..

I import the video clip into Photoshop convert it to a smart object then perform a shadow highlight adjustment and save as a psd in the same folder as the video file.

I drag the psd into premiere and when prompted I select merge all layers
I drag the psd to timeline and attempt to scrub through the “psd video file” but I see just a still from the video not scrubbing video
Is this the process you tried and you do see scrubbing video ?

Jon, yes It is definitely a smart object I just tried with a second video clip and repeated the process but still just seeing a “still” in premiere

Just saw this saying that this very useful psd video link feature will no longer be supported in premiere cs6 https://www.video2brain.com/en/videos-13091.htm video will need to be rendered out from photoshop and imported to premiere !

just when I was thinking that maybe premiere cs6 would solve my problem :o(

Maybe your machine is not powerful enough to play or scrub the video.
Try rendering the Entire Work Area: yellow to green.

my pc is powerful i7 with 24gig ram

I think they must be dropping this feature in cs6 because it doesnot work on all systems or its buggy ? what a pity !
