Thanks for that Michael. I have been looking at his guides just now, and will definately purchase his EX1 guide. I have messaged him enquiring which guide will help most with my X160, so assume as both XDCAMs anything learned from EX1 should translate into X160.
I dont film full time, I do a lot of ELearning production so havent ever got heavily into technicalities, but it`s bugging me now so off to the expert to become ‘enlightened’ ☺
Does your Z150 come close to the EX1 in terms of quality/look etc? Brief answer is fine 😉

Michael, many thanks for responding, and this does help me so much appreciated. The picture profiles on the EX1 just seemed to work out the box, wheres as the X160 seem off colour.
I will interrogate and look into the picture profile on the X160. You can see in the image on the right (EX1) the wall is a nice creamy colour (as it was!) where as on the left (X160) it`s a yellow/green and both taken at the same time. It consistently gets it wrong, at all colour temperatures so something fundemental wrong.
I will delve into the world of picture profiles settings and report back if anything positive happenings.
Thanks again Michael.

December 3, 2016 at 4:50 pm in reply to: X160 camcorder – how does the power supply attach??On the plus side, firmware upgrade of X160 from V2.00 to V3.10 went without an issue, and camera is much more responsive!!
On previous version, the lag was painful even just moving from one option to the next, now it`s as it should have been, with no lag.
After a year using the X160, have to say much prefer the EX1 still.

December 2, 2016 at 9:59 am in reply to: X160 camcorder – how does the power supply attach??Mark,
Firstly, thank you very much mate for not telling me off ???? A serious case of RTFM and you were very polite about it, and solved my issue. I had looked online at Sony and my supplier and it does mention the BC-U1 would power it, so I was adamant I had a freak!!
I checked my bag, nothing and instantly thought I had been diddled, but into the loft I go and BINGO, there it was top of the box still nicely wrapped.
Anyone else that cant be bothered to read the manual, dont bother Mark, to charge the X160 (or X180) dont use the battery charger, use the laptop style brick that is still in the box, in your loft….or in the local dump!!
Top man, thanks Mark.

Oh bloody hell Chuck, I do sympathise mate. For starters with a torrid day dealing with the constant crashes, then to find out your project file has corrupted. Not a good day.
It is widespread, and surely they must be able to find a fix or at least tell us something about it. Notice there are some 1/5 star reviews on Amazon detailing how bad it is. Funny, when you see the Facebook Sony feeds, they paint a lovely glowing picture.
Perhaps we should start a Facebook group with photos of our angry faces after witnessing the 20th crash of the day!!
Good luck, and I hear FCP is a fine program….got a few bugs I hear mind;))

No solution, but just want to echo want has been said. I too love using Vegas, and have used it since discovering V8.
But, the current version 11(595) is the most unstable of any version of the software I have used, it is painful and frustrating to use. There is simply no pattern to the crashes, and with all drivers and OS bang up to date, I just assume there are some major bugs under the bonnet.
When it works, it’s fabulous, when it doesn’t, it’s a real pig. It seems to cope well with complicated effects, but fails on the real basics like trying a simple cut.
I will stick with it mind, and I`m sure they’re working hard on fixes…

Not such a miracle cure! Instead of crashing in two minutes, it now only crashes after about 20.
Looking on the bright side of life, it’s progress!

Miracle cure, been editing now for 20 minutes with no crash!!
Simple solution – uninstalled the NewBlue TitlerPro. One awful bit of software, so fiddly to create simple text on screen. I was adding characters but it was putting them in random places, impossible to align multiple paragraphs along the x axis, it was adding characters randomly. Gone back to ProType Titler and all is good! Phew.

Installed BETA drivers for GTX560, still constant random crashes. Disabled GPU acceleration, but still crashing.
Don’t believe it’s even TitlerPro related, Vegas ‘feels’ very buggy.
