When you uninstalled VP12, did you delete the Vegas Pro 12 folder (it should have its own folder, separate from your other install)? If not, I would do another uninstall, delete that folder (after making sure you don’t have any saved projects or footage that might be in that folder– back that stuff up to a different directory), then reinstall again.
I would normally tell you to also delete any registry entries from HKY_LocalComputer_Software but it’ll probably screw up your other version of Vegas.

Try playing back the video on a different computer system. I’ve seen where some files were so large (and full of data) that the system hardware couldn’t keep up, hence the sync issue.
On a side note- why would you install a codec package when your Sony software has a full, professional, codec suite included? I’m certainly no expert on codecs but if you read quite a few of the threads pertaining to user problems, it’s usually caused by what you installed.

Panning with a consumer camera, with lower-quality CMOS sensor, is never going to look good unless the pan is very slow. There’s not much you can really do except crank up the bit rate during the final render and check the box for two-pass rendering.

The big improvement with i7 processors was when Intel switched from the Sandy Bridge architecture to the Ivy Bridge chips (which are the newer i7’s). If you’re not making that jump the improvement will be negligible.

If your computer’s motherboard is Socket 1155 (i’m assuming this is a desktop and not a laptop), swap out the CPU for the most expensive i7 Ivy Bridge you can afford. It’ll help tremendously.

That render time sounds about right.

You state that you have the stills as 16:9, but 16:9 is a ‘ratio’ and not a ‘size’. What is your project settings? If it’s 1920×1080, then your still images should be sized 1920×1080.

I’d get the system that has Windows 7. Both cards are going to perform pretty close- there isn’t one that is drastically better than the other. The new AMD cards are getting very good reviews. However, that is the system that has Windows 8.
If I were you i’d check the specs on the manufacturers website. If you want to add additional hard drives at a later date, does either of these systems have multiple SATAIII (6gb/s) ports? This is the downside of buying a pre-built system because you’re stuck with what they give you, in terms of upgradeability down the road.
If you can, or if you know somebody that can help you, BUILD YOUR OWN SYSTEM.

Does your system really have only 1gb of RAM, or was that a typo?
