Check your Windows event viewer for errors. Seems you have a corrupt driver or failing hardware. Try downloading the latest drivers for the GPU, then go into the Device Manager and deleting the video card and choose option to remove drivers when prompt appears. Reboot. System will see the GPU, and when prompted point to the location of the drivers you downloaded.

Are you watching this trailer on your computer, or on something else? If you are watching this on your computer, have you tried watching it on a different computer to see how it acts there?

Whenever people talk about audio being out of sync with video, usually it’s due to a lack of system resources with the computer, or the computer just being not powerful enough to view a high-resolution video in full screen mode.

So you are saying that your main hard drive (the C drive) is an SSD drive. Does your computer have any other hard drives that you can save project files to? Most of us only have the operating system on the hard drive, and some also install Vegas on that same drive (which is fine, especially if it’s an SSD) and have a separate hard drive (D drive, for example) where we store/save Vegas project files.

Are you project media files (audio & video files) also stored on the ‘
C’ drive?

If your computer has only one hard drive, I highly recommend getting a second hard drive for your video files, and your Vegas projects. You’ll want to make sure you have a complete understanding of your system hardware: what you have and what you do not have, inside the box.

I hope this isn’t the case, but you might have a hard drive that is physically failing. Is the drive that stores this missing file an SSD or a ‘normal’ hard drive? If it’s a normal hard drive, go into the drive’s ‘Tools’ and have it do a scan. This will let you know if you have a bad spot on the platter. If it’s an SSD, there are no spinning platters so it might have a bad chip.

I run a dual-monitor setup (HP 23llxi, which is a 23″ LED IPS monitor). An IPS monitor is a higher-end monitor (although my model is on the low-end of the IPS price scale) that is a staple of those that do professional graphics. I run my preview window full-screen on the 2nd monitor, keeping the timeline and bins on the first monitor. However, it is a computer monitor and not going to be as accurate as a professional broadcast unit, as Steve stated.

You can have a powerful computer but it’ll still run slow if its resources are being used by other programs, even if those programs are not open. If your system has many icons in the system tray (by the clock in lower right corner). These are starting themselves at system boot up.

Click ‘start’ and in the run box type: msconfig
When the System Configuration window opens click the ‘startup’ tab. Uncheck everything except your antivirus software.

Reboot.

See if it helps. If it doesn’t you’ll have to go deeper by running services.msc and checking every single process.

At the bare minimum i’d install an Intel i7 IvyBridge CPU (and Z79 chipset motherboard) and 32gb RAM. You should still be able to use your SATA II drives, and you already have a fine video card. This will at least save you at least $650 over a Xeon/new mobo combination.

If I were building a new workstation that would be used for 4K editing, I wouldn’t put anything less than Intel Xeon (Ivy Bridge) processors in it, plus a socket LGA 2011 motherboard that has PLENTY of SATA III controllers on it, like this Asus mobo:

You have the RAID 0 already, and hopefully the drives are SATA III and not SATA II, although SATA II is probably good enough for XAVC-S.
