Hello all, I have a good question for you.

I have no trouble editing videos in Vegas 12 once it is open.

But lets say I want to minimize the program and browse through folders to look for other things to add in, every single time (it doesnt matter if nothing else is open or not) when I click back to Vegas it takes a good 12 seconds before I can start clicking on things, this doesnt seem like much but it becomes a crazy hassle once I start dragging in sound effects or just random videos or other things I want to drag and drop into the project…

Im assuming this is because I just have so much footage into this project because If I start a new fresh project and just import a little bit in I dont have this problem, it loads right away.

I know this is a problem because I have a ridiculously fast computer, I have
    24 Gigs of ram
A Solid state harddrive 500 gigs and a normal hard drive 1000 gigs
    i7 Quad processor

So I know I really shouldnt be having any problems

Im not sure if it matters but all my source footage is all on my SOLID STATE disk and Vegas is installed and runs off of my HARD DISK Drive

Im not sure if that would matter, please let me know your thoughts!

Try going into Preferences and under the General tab, make sure that
Close media files when not the active application is selected.
    Try that and see…

Hmm, yes this was selected and had a check mark in it, any other ideas you could think of?

Do you have any partitions on your O/S drive?

You can have a powerful computer but it’ll still run slow if its resources are being used by other programs, even if those programs are not open. If your system has many icons in the system tray (by the clock in lower right corner). These are starting themselves at system boot up.

Click ‘start’ and in the run box type: msconfig
When the System Configuration window opens click the ‘startup’ tab. Uncheck everything except your antivirus software.

    Reboot.

See if it helps. If it doesn’t you’ll have to go deeper by running services.msc and checking every single process.

Yea, remove the check mark. You DO NOT want this to be enabled! i.e., you do not want Vegas to close and then have to re-open all of the medai files. You want it to keep them open when it looses focus so make sure there is NOT a checkmark next to Close media files when not the active application.
