    i am thnking of buying a computer monitor for preview n vegas 12. two questons is computer monitor inferior to tv for this use and lastly will preview just show me video preview or the whole vegas window

    Yes its inferior to a well balanced television and even more to
    a broadcast monitor for Video editing tasks.
    If you have another monitor, you can set one to preview the
    Vegas Preview Window only.

    I run a dual-monitor setup (HP 23llxi, which is a 23″ LED IPS monitor). An IPS monitor is a higher-end monitor (although my model is on the low-end of the IPS price scale) that is a staple of those that do professional graphics. I run my preview window full-screen on the 2nd monitor, keeping the timeline and bins on the first monitor. However, it is a computer monitor and not going to be as accurate as a professional broadcast unit, as Steve stated.
