You need to disable the onboard Intel graphics in the BIOS. It is weird that the laptop maker didn’t do it (I’m assuming it is a laptop since you have the ‘M’ graphic chip set designation.

The ‘goo’ that resides on the CPU eventually dries out. If it’s over 3 years old pop off the cooler, remove the old stuff and apply new. A small tube is cheap. Might as we’ll upgrade the cooler as well since it’ll help and they’re cheap.

I wouldn’t recommend a temporary bandaid approach for an easily fixed problem.

RAID 0 does not improve access times, but the access times are better when comparing a SATAIII SSD to a conventional hard drive. Here is an article that should help you:

  • Copy those move files to physically different hard drive and test. This way you can rule out a possible hard drive issue.

If you’re looking to upgrade your current system’s CPU, and will be shooting 4k, you should be upgrading to a Xeon processor (or two). You’ll also need to swap out the motherboard as well.

In regards to your hard drive question: don’t look anywhere else except moving to RAID 0 with 4 of the fastest SSD drives you can afford (Samsung 840 Pro or equivalent). You might want to look at vendors that provide dedicated RAID systems, like G Drive for example.

I have posted CPU performance links on here in the not-too-distant past. You should be able to find it easily via the search function. The Xeon will give the best performance, in a nutshell.

YouTube has their own Wiki/FAQ that should list what they prefer for 4k uploads. Personally I think it’s a waste of time since nobody owns 4k computer displays (well, nobody that I know of).

System specs should be fine. What type of drive is the video footage residing on, and is it a physically different drive than the system drive?

Check if you have any special permissions on that drive.
