Hello. I’ve tried Googling about this, but all I got was questions about how to do the exact opposite of what I’m looking for. So, I got a quad-core with a stock cooler and it doesn’t do a very good job when I’m rendering videos. Temps raise to the roof and it’s pretty scary. I’d like to know if there’s a way to “underclock Vegas” so it uses, say, 50~75% of my CPU power. Yeah, I don’t mind longer rendering times.

    Thanks.

The ‘goo’ that resides on the CPU eventually dries out. If it’s over 3 years old pop off the cooler, remove the old stuff and apply new. A small tube is cheap. Might as we’ll upgrade the cooler as well since it’ll help and they’re cheap.

I wouldn’t recommend a temporary bandaid approach for an easily fixed problem.

I gotta agree with Dave. Fix your cooling problem!
