Bob, I bought Shotput very early on and it worked well for me….until I tried to move the software off of my desktop and onto my laptop. At that point, the software became unusable and their “tech support” would NOT help me make it work again unless I paid for an upgraded version. So, it DOES work as advertised as long as you never move it from one computer to another.

Hey Ian, I realize this is a bit out of your area, but you might be able to help me understand this a little better. I just attended a demo of the Panasonic AF100 camera and they made a big point of saying that they HAD to slide the little “write protect” switch on their SD cards before inserting them into a Mac or else they’d lose files upon insertion. I was dumbfounded and SOOO happy that I was using an EX1 when I heard that. Obviously, Sony must have done something different when they designed the XDCAM series!! Can you expand on this issue?

I’ve used small towels to give my EX1 some protection both from the Sun and from blowing junk. You have to be careful with heat buildup when you use something like plastic or a camera glove. In the Florida sun, my EX1 can get VERY hot to the touch so I never use anything more than a thin handtowel. Hope this helps.

I had all sorts of crud inside my EX-1’s original lens. You could see it if you pointed the camera at, for example, the open sky and stop the lens down quite a bit. It almost looked like little “half moon” pieces of paper that would come out of a hole puncher. It was covered under warranty but I never could figure out from the Service Ticket where they found the junk.

Hey Patrick, let me know when you want to get rid of that “piece of junk” card reader. I need a backup for mine. 😉

Could you just give them a link to the Sony Clip Browser software?
