viewing .mov files created with xdcam transfer
i have a director that wants to view all .mov files created with xdcam transfer. He does not have FCP only quicktime on is MAC. QT doesn’t recognize the .mov files (MPEG2 ?) Can anyone suggest a piece of software that will allow him to view the footage on his laptop and be able export it for him to use with other applications. Naturally FCP and expensive solutions will not be an option.

I think there’s a Sony installer somewhere that gives you the XDCAM EX codec for QuickTime. Explore their support site a bit and you’ll find it…

CalibratedSoftware has EX XDCAM .mov plugin for non FCP systems for about $90.
