Great info Nate! One little thing the camera can’t down convert via firewire can it? I haven’t been able to make that happen.

Cleaner from Autodesk will make an .mpg that includes video & audio.

Red 3 needs to be 3.0.5, follow the directions very carefully.
From the red install directions:Be sure to follow the next two steps when launching FCP 5.1 for the first time, in
order to avoid a problem with the Boris windows not appearing. After the first time
you launch FCP 5.1, you can start the application as usual.
10. Press the Caps Lock key, and launch Final Cut Pro 5.1.
11. Immediately quit Final Cut Pro and launch with the Caps Lock key up. -
I haven’t seen this but I find FCP 5.1.2 works much better with the transfer software.

I’ll take a look at what our systems are doing to see if it carries the reel name. We name the disc before we launch the transfer software.

That is not correct. You can set the clip name and number at any time. It holds those setting when you change discs as well. I have set the the clip name and number before and after inserting a disc and letting it format.

I see Peter said below that Boris is looking into the RED 3 to 4 thing. Sorry for reposting the same problem.
