Not from Betacam the tone should be 0db. -20 is for digital levels like Digibeta. We edit at -12 because it matches the levels out to match DVD and 0db for beta. If we are going to digital will pull the levels back to -20db.

When we have an editor come into of suites who comes from other systems like PPro, Final Cut that haven’t crashed in months will crash. I think it because they try to use FCP just like PPro or Avid. When I moved from Media 100 we had to rethink our whole work flow. We no longer do offline-Online. All footage is brought in at the resolution we finish at. Buy your system from someone who sells FCP systems and will support you.

I just installed 2.1 on our second system and having the same problem with both. One system is a Intel and the other is a G5. However being able to rename files in the transfer software is worth the hassle and the changes write back to the disc.

I have tried deleting the database for the transfer software and reinstalled. So far nothing has fixed this problem. I will try a new user next.

when you reinstalled did you keep the database file which I think is in the cache folder?

Now that’s better! Have you done any renaming of clips and then imported into FCP? Does this work as expected?

I have not be able to confirm this but it is my feeling that HDV and XDCAM footage which is what we are using has to re-conform to HDV on export when rendering in ProRes. I wanted to render to ProRes for our XDCAM footage but after rendering, the export took forevvvvverrrrr. I gave up and when back to rendering to HDV and the export was back to normal. This was in 6.0.1. I haven’t tried it yet in 6.0.2 as we just installed it today. I will let you know what happens.

Well unless your installing 2 x 512 chips of ram I can’t see how you can add up to 6 gigs of ram. I have 2 x 1 Gig in Riser A and 2 x 1 GIG in Riser B = 4 Gigs. So unless my math is incorrect which it may well be, according to that chart I should add the same ram set up for optimal performance which would equal 8 Gigs. Doesn’t that make sense or am I reading that chart incorrectly?
