October 20, 2012 at 3:50 am in reply to: FCPX is so completely weird, it makes Motion look sane. And no one will hire you by the hour for either of them.I am cutting my first project in X and so far it’s more stable that FCP7. I like it a lot better than Premiere Pro CS6. I don’t fully understand the program yet but I like some things and I think if they continue to improve it, it could become a good edit system.

Yes, but they should have brought it out as another product! As FCP 10 people (me) had certain expectations. If it had come out as a 1.0 product it would have been looked at differently in my opinion. I look forward to the next update but is NOT version 10!!!!

Lynette, I agree with Bill. You should be thinking about how to get away from tape! Invest in a system to digitize your tape library either to dvd, hard drives, or… Your productivity will increase and you will save money on repairing decks.

July 17, 2012 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Move title “Lens Flare” without moving the video in the storyline????Thanks Andy, I went into Motion and published position and scale but it still moved the storyline and then I noticed there was a layer named “Title Source” in Motion which I moved into a new group so the published properties didn’t effect the Title Source layer which appears to be the storyline layer. Now it works. There should be an easier way!!!
Thanks for your help.

It sounds like your disc is going to sleep and when you access the clips it waking back up.
Are you working on a laptop?

Still on FCP 7, testing Premiere CS 6, not sure about Premiere It just doesn’t seem to be where FCP 7 is now as a basic editor. Markers don’t move with edits, things like that. It does have some great features.
Waiting for FCPX to mature.Dajen Productions, Santa Barbara, CA
