  • Move title “Lens Flare” without moving the video in the storyline????

How do I move the title “Lens Flare” without moving the video in the storyline????
If go go to transform it moves the storyline video even though it says I have the Lens Flare selected.
I tried a compound clip but the lens flare alpha channel no longer keys correctly.

Double click the text in the viewer. You should see a little puck on the text line. Grab and move the title with that.

That moves the text but not the Lens Flare.

Sorry, I thought that’s what you were asking about. The reason you can’t use the transform tools to move the lens flare is because of the nature of the effect requires a composite of the lens flare over the video and that composite is accomplished via a drop zone inside the motion project.

What you need to do is open a copy of the title in Motion and either adjust it there, or create a publishable rig which will allow you to adjust the position of the flare from within FCPX.

Thanks Andy, I went into Motion and published position and scale but it still moved the storyline and then I noticed there was a layer named “Title Source” in Motion which I moved into a new group so the published properties didn’t effect the Title Source layer which appears to be the storyline layer. Now it works. There should be an easier way!!!

    Thanks for your help.
