Before I upgraded to CS5, I had used PPCS4 with windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit without problem. My configuration was quite similar to yours. I had not, however, used it with Sony EX clips. Have you tried using different types of clips……that may narrow it down some.

Well, it looks like I FINALLY figured it out. I had been experimenting with every variation with each preset that i could find.

What finally worked was this: In the multiplexer tab, I clicked the “TS” radio button instead of the “none” button.

I dont even know what this is…..but the footage looks great.

Thanks for all you suggestions everyone.

I’ve tried pretty much every preset there is in CS5. I have a folder with over 20 different renderings of the same footage………in different formats…..same result…some horrible some just okay….nothing that gets rids of the look ive described.

Would you look at that? Ha! I assumed that the software with the camera was just a “consumer” entry level transfer program, so I didn’t give it much thought. You are right….it worked perfectly!

Seems amazing to me that the Sony rep didn’t even ask me how I was transferring the files and stated that it was just the way the camera operated and that there was no way around it.

Thanks so much everyone for your help. I may not have to use this camera as a door stop after all……..lol.

It happens when you reach the two gig mark and the camera writes the existing footage to a file and starts the new file….so its at the beginning of the new file and interestingly enough, it is different each time. Sometimes its only a few frames other times its up to 15 frames. I put it together in Premiere CS5.

As I had stated in an earlier post, Sony told me that this is the way the camera operates and is not considered a malfunction.

    Sigh……………

I finally got to talk to someone at Sony and was told that this is how this camera operates. It is not a flaw in its operation…..but I would say that it is a flaw in its design. At any rate, I was told that I will always lose a few frames at the 2 gig mark. Nice to know NOW…..now that I’ve already purchased this hog.
    Boy does that suck.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, this is mpg file. I tried to install MPEG Streamclip and during install it said I had to uninstall all quicktime programs and install the quicktime alternative. Will this mess up premiere and AE Quicktime rendering capabilities?

    Thanks again
