I will be suprised if it isn’t a whole new application – i.e. Adobe BluBlood v1.0 [I made that up, but expect compensation if the name is used 😉 ] The systems structures for blu-ray and DVD-HD are very different from the current DVD spec.

I don’t think you were wrong. Encore can use 5.1 ac3 files but will only create stereo ones.

And what happens when the customer puts the progressive scan DVD into a player hooked up to a TV set?
It will probably look a lot worse than the interlaced video looks on the computer screen. (We have to assume the client does not have a progressive scan DVD player – lowest common denominator strikes again.)

I’ve been using Daemon Tools for quite a long time without conflicts or other related problems. I agree with Aanarav that you should use the earlier version which I haven’t used myself because of bad “press.”

Using Encore the only solution is DVD which, as you know, requires the interactual player. The only other authoring software that I know of that can create a link from a DVD to the outside world is Apple’s DVD Studio Pro. It uses a technology dubbed DVD@CCESS by Apple. It too requires installation of additional software (probably a java applet) on Windows machines in order to function.
External linking is not part of the DVD specification. That is to say there is no mechanism built into the DVD “system” to allow linking to material outside the DVD domain. EVERY solution ever proffered has required some sort of additional software in order to make this kind of linking work.

Bob,
One good method is to build the project to a file folder set. You can use your computer’s DVD playback software to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and it will run just like it would from disc.
