January 15, 2008 at 3:13 pm in reply to: RED aspect ratio problem in FCP 5.x

    Hi Kieran,

Try changing the “Correct for Aspect Ratio” setting in the FCP Canvas window under the scale drop down. This should make RED look correct and FCP look slightly squished, but won’t affect output. You can change this when working in RED then revert for editing in FCP.

The project settings should always be grayed out in RED because those are dictated by the host.

    Thanks,
    Dave

January 7, 2008 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Confusing Rotoscope Question in FX

    Hi Tony,

I just want to make sure I understand what’s going on. You have a Vegas timeline with three video tracks. Topmost is the video clip with an FX 9 filter applied to it that you rotoscoped, next down is a graphic element with alpha channel, and below that is Vegas solid color (white then black after client revision).

If that’s the case, I can’t reproduce what you’re seeing. My effect still renders correctly set to Premultiplied Black. Am I missing something?

And the updating preview issue refers to the video preview in FX when used as a filter. You will only get one frame of host video from Vegas due to plugin limitations.

    Thanks,
    Dave

December 5, 2007 at 10:02 pm in reply to: Seeing FCP timeline video in RED plug-ins

    Hi Kieran,

There’s the missing piece! If you’re seeing green it’s because you have your FCP timeline set to Unlimited RT. Change that to Safe RT and everything should work as expected.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Kieran,

As a filter you should only see the video from the clip your applied to and as a generator you won’t see any host video by default.

To see host video other than the clip you’re applied to you must add it into one of the video wells in the Filters window.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Dave

The 11.6 Universal install option will work just fine.

November 13, 2007 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Restore a parameter’s presets in RED?

    1. Select the parameter in the Timeline window (Toggle Smart View to see adjusted parameters) and press CTRL+R or right click and choose Reset Parameter. This will remove keyframes and set the value to default

    2. Click in the value field for the parameter you want to adjust (Position Y) and hold Shift to increment by 10 using the up/down arrows or the mouse scroll wheel. You can also increment by .1 if you hold CTRL and use the mouse scroll wheel.

    3. I’m trying to find a listing and will report back later on this one.

November 6, 2007 at 4:37 pm in reply to: Boris 9.0.1 Blur causes crash.

    Hi Darrell,

I just tried to reproduce this problem and couldn’t. Just to clarify, I should see the crash if I follow these steps:

    1. Cut some clips into Video 1 in a linear fashion and place Adobe native dissolves (Additive, Cross, Dips,…) on the cuts between the clips
    2. Apply BorisFX 9.1.5 filter to any of the clips from the Video Effects/3rd party folder in the Effects window
    3. When BorisFX launches apply a BCC Glow filter to Video 1 then apply back to Premiere Pro
    4. Render the sequence. I should crash when the dissolve begins for the clip(s) with BorisFX applied.

It may be helpful if you could send a copy of your Premiere project or a trimmed down version without media so I can see exactly what you’re doing.

You can contact me at ddipinto@borisfx.com

    Thanks,
    Dave
