  • Seeing FCP timeline video in RED plug-ins

    Hi Folks,

I’m running RED 4 in FCP 5 on a MacPro set-up. When I try to use RED as a generator or a filter I can’t seem to get it to display the underlying video from the host.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    Hi Kieran,

As a filter you should only see the video from the clip your applied to and as a generator you won’t see any host video by default.

To see host video other than the clip you’re applied to you must add it into one of the video wells in the Filters window.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

    Apologies for my tardy reply.

Thanks for the info. Problem is I just seem to get green when I do the Boris as a filter thing.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Kieran,

There’s the missing piece! If you’re seeing green it’s because you have your FCP timeline set to Unlimited RT. Change that to Safe RT and everything should work as expected.

    Thanks,
    Dave
