Our camera is about 5 months old, so this issue is very troubling, especially if I can’t find out the cause. We tried copying the clips by drag and drop of the folders to the hard drive but still have these same digital errors in the clips. But yet they “appear” OK on the P2 cards.

We have done other shoots without this issue, and I did one after without the issue. The one difference was they were shooting 720p60 and I have not used that format previously.

    Hi David,

I am using Blackmagic drivers, so maybe I need to try that with the latest…

    Hi Gary

    QT 7.4.5 with 6 GB of RAM Kingston DDR2 FB-DIMM 800MHZ
I will do a burn in test on the RAM, but I haven’t seen this in any other heavy duty 3D rendering.

It has only occured with certain P2 source stuff that I have used effects or scaling within FCPro.

If I cancel the render and restart the render, sometimes it continues without more errors.

I’m thinking it’s somehow system related. Perhaps it’s the render target drive, which is on a Sonnet E4P via RAID drives.

Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 OS 10.5.2 Intel – clean install of FCPro. not using 3rd party filters.

I have reported this using Apples Auto Report system and FCPro’s feedback…

I am having serious problems rendering certain HD material. Each render of a 40 minute DVCPro HD 1080i sequence produces numerous crashes on various clips. These crashes are preceded by numerous error in console. Most of the clips have motion and distort and broadcast safe filters applied.

Its a particularly nasty bug in that an hour or more of rendering will be lost if you don’t render in small pieces – 4 or 5 clips , saving after each render.

My sequence is using high precision YUV rendering option. Smoothcam clips are especially prone to the render crash.

I discovered that if I open console I can predict the crash a few seconds before it happens. If the FCPro errors start appearing, then I quickly cancel the render.

Here is a sample the error codes that start cascading down the console:

April 3, 2008 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Is Multibridge Pro downconversion broadcast quality

Seven months later, I’m still wondering if you can actually get a clean down convert from the Multibridge Pro.

I have 720p30 and 1080i timelines in FCPro and have never been able to get anything other than a jittery, aliasing looking approximation of SD from the unit.

March 2, 2008 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Multibridge Pro 2 Fan Noise

I had this same problem. The fan in the MB Pro is ARX Ceradyna Fan FW1251-C2033C 12 VLT .25 amp.

I found ours was not tightly closed. The two halves of the fan are joined by a plastic clip that was not tightly locked, which I fixed with super glue and cleaned it out with a air blower.

There is only one screw holding it in place and the other screw hole does not line up. This vibrating against the metal case causes all the noise. A piece of felt under it may help too.

November 2, 2007 at 11:10 pm in reply to: Bloom/Burn Out/Film Look Transition in FCP

One way that I’ve done this in many different NLE’s is using the additive dissolve transition.

Add a white clip to the transition point. Then do an additive dissolve to about 50% or so until the outgoing starts to blow out, then flashes to white. You can use the same clip to then transition into the incoming clip.

What a few real film gate effects to get the timing right.
