  • Is Multibridge Pro downconversion broadcast quality

    Hi

I was wondering about the down conversion of a FCPro HD time line to SD using Multibridge Pro. Is the output good enough for broadcast or is it a software approximation for monitoring only?

There seems to be two places to change the output mode. One, in the Blackmagic control panel, I can select down convert output. The other is in the video playback settings in FCPro. Do both need to be set or can I just use FCPro and leave the control panel alone?

When I look at the down converted footage on our Plasmas, the images look good until a shot with lots of fine detail, then I see lots of aliasing and shimmering in the NTSC output.

Someone told me I need to use a Kona to do this.

    Thanks

Seven months later, I’m still wondering if you can actually get a clean down convert from the Multibridge Pro.

I have 720p30 and 1080i timelines in FCPro and have never been able to get anything other than a jittery, aliasing looking approximation of SD from the unit.
