I wound up doing reinstall/clean and that seemed to clear things up. Seems that you were right and something just went sideways somewhere along the way.

Feels nice to have it working again and I’m loving this AE text template feature. Just did lower 3rds for a long form in no time.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately trashing the prefs didn’t do anything. My CUDA is up to date and I’ll update the OS in the morning.

I have been able to figure out what’s causing it and hopefully this information will help narrow down the problem. It happens when my AE project is closed.

What happened yesterday was I finished the edit, sent the timeline to AME, then shut down Premiere and AE and moved on to something else.

I have tried all combinations of opening different projects and just have AE open but no project and the only thing that works is to have the AE project open while I’m in the Premiere project. In fact, as long as that’s open, the linked comp is one of the first pieces of media to reconnect.

I started doing this when one of my coworkers told me that his linked comps rendered noticeably faster when he closed down AE while rendering linked comps in timelines.

Any thoughts given the new information?

Adobe support was able to resolve this for me. It turned out to be something to do with the codecs in my Quicktime folder. Not exactly sure what he did. I now have a temp folder on my desktop with 18 codecs, but my actual Quicktime folder has 20 codecs so I definitely didn’t lose anything.

Thanks for the tips everyone. We ran it through the content management system and it came out fine so I guess I just won’t worry about it unless it becomes a critical issue.

Looks fine in Premiere, but bad in MPEG Streamclip.

Interesting. Looks like it may be a Quicktime issue. When I played the file back in Dropbox to see what you were seeing, it played back fine.

When I play it back in Quicktime, I see this.

When it plays back on a coworkers Windows Media Player, it plays back fine.

I export MP4s from AME all the time and this preset is the only time I’ve seen this happen so there must be something going haywire with Quicktime.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question. I’ve uploaded a sample clip for you to look at. It has “goodwill” written across the box which may give you a little more to work with as the clip you saw already had the replacement graphic on it.

They never had plans to track and remove the writing while shooting, just a request that was made after the fact…I guess that’s often the case though.
