Paid for itself many times over. -
I’ll fish them out of the waste basket, put ’em on a spool and see if I can get supplier to come good.
Is there an acid test I can perform to see if these discs are faulty? -
You saying Iranians don’t have a sense of humour?
Hey they’re still roaring with laughter and slapping their thighs over being refered to as part of the axis of evil.
Right? -

July 20, 2005 at 3:36 am in reply to: Shuttle Pro and Graphic Tablet………what are the best choices??Would also like to know the answer to this question.
Would like to try Graphic Tablet as an option, as left elbow and shoulder are getting sore.
Use Shuttle Pro it’s a good tool. -
Or get Excalibur 4.5.
Use it all the time for just that.
Great arrow to have in your editing quiver. -
Do participants have to sign a release.
Have some stuff from Iranian wedding,—knife dance before the cutting of the cake. Men dancing with hankies. Also smashing eggs filled with sparkles on the ceiling of the local Deltal Hotel. Bride and groom dusting each others’ heads with charcoal.
That wild enough? -
I’d highly recommend the Studio Projects large diaphram C-1 condenser mic.
Go for an M-Audio cards. I’m using one of those Behringer 4 input mixers.
Meets my needs. The mic’s about 2 hundred US, card 1 hundred or so. You can likely pick up a mixer like the one I have for 30 US.
If you do a lot of VO work and you don’t want to mortgage the house this is the way to go.
And yes the Studio Projects mic is Made in China. I’m old enough to remember when we joked about Made in Japan. It’s a great mic,—-GREAT!
Good luck. -
On top of camera are audio plus and minus settings.
Now at first glance it looks like gain in at maximum setting with horizontal dashes.
But hold that plus button down firmly,—and you will see that the setting is at it’s lowest level.
When you push down firmly volume + vertical green indicators appear and you will hear through the headphones.
Let me know how you make out. -
Struggled through a recent project for a construction company that is adding LCD screens to fast food drive-throughs and interior menu boards.
Sounds simple,—right?
Quoted the job. Client signed back a lower price,—and he would provide the video.
Video was terrible, but the money was good.
So I thought.
So I bit.
He handed me the video,—-and a manual,—explaining that he needed all the information in the rather thick manual included.
He also wanted a 5 minute video.
Why would someone think that is possible?
So,—the impossible project.
Assembled usable clips. Wrote a pared back script from manual explaining that I needed pictures to write to,—and some didn’t exist
I handled changes and additions with text overlays and stills.
I would NOT recommend taking on such a job ever again or handling it this way.
Half way through the editing process, the client said to me, “next time I think it would be best for you to shoot it as well.”
Gee, really?.
I think in this case,—a instructional video for construction crews,—the best way to go is to get a thorough understanding of the procedures, then write the script.I use Final Draft AV. Prepare a shot list,—even a storyboard and off you go with your production crew. Then it’s in to post, assemble video,—add narration, music, animation etc.
That’s the easiest way. And it can work for such a proejct as this.
