Media Problem?
Moo Yooz,
Been using 4X Taiyo Yudens without problems for some time.
Suddenly I have a problem.
Can’t burn to them.
Burner is Pioneer DVR-107d.
Updgraded firmware but to no advantage.
Burning unsuccessfully from DVD-A and a thing called “Record Now”.
And while I can’t burn to the TYs, I can burn to an old 4X Memorex DVD-RW.
Seems strange doesn’t it?
Any thoughts for the Ole Master Burners in the community? -

Just sounds like a bad batch of discs.

I’ll fish them out of the waste basket, put ’em on a spool and see if I can get supplier to come good.
Is there an acid test I can perform to see if these discs are faulty? -

Seriously though,—how does one determine if a disc is good or not?

Did it record? It is good. Did it not record? it isn’t good.
That is the test I give them. don;t buy cheap discs tho so never have any trouble.Charlie

Have always used Taiyou Yuden.
Highest quality and am at a loss to explain these failures.
Never a problem with this blank media before this.
Just bought another spool,—talk about loyal.
Ready to try a test burn.

New spool of Taiyo 8X.
One failutre.
Message in mid-burn tells me to use another media OR writing speed.
Was burning at 4X.Used same media, Taiyo 8X,—-burned at 8X.
Success.Only thing different is writing speed.
This make sense to anybody?
