locking tracks
I have say 4 tracks longest is main video track (4). 1 hour 15 mins above are a few 5 10 and 20 second video inserts at different intervals on the main track. when I move the main track how can I make sure my inserts move with the main track without having to slide across the track and highlite the (by now very skinny 5 & 10 second inserts)

Either have auto ripple enabled, or everytime you move the main track use post edit ripple (Ctrl/Shift F).
This will move everything at or to the right of the moved event by the same amount.

Use it all the time for just that.

You may want to click on the “lock envelopes to events” before you start moving things.
