if i understand correct.
you have 2 black solids, A and B.
make a copy of both layers and place these solids, C & D above the originals.
set C’s parent to A and Ds parent to B (if they are animated, turn off the keyframes for C&D). set the trackmatte of D to C and make the solid whitewho is that masked man…

its really great for when you are doing masking/roto work as well.
if you cant afford an intous, the new graphires are actually pretty good

play with them as you desire.

sounds like your codec doesnt like the red.
maybe try to desaturate it a bit before you encode
