if i’m setting the upper layer to a different transfer mode, how would it work in conjunction with the layer it was duplicated from?

would i just switch back and forth from these two layers by turning up and down the opacity at the more crucial frames (as mentioned above)?

or is there a way to just build on the effects of the first layer?

i just want to avoid any obvious animation of a floating black blob for the closer moments.

thanks for all the advice though, certainly stuff to work with…

i just had a similar problem. check in your “about this mac” under “more info” and look at your firewire port. if you see your camera recognized there as a device , that means that your computer at least recognizes it as a piece of hardware and that it’s probably your final cut.

my problem involved, my fc telling me the device was missing, but in log and capture i could control the tape, got timecode, but no video.

turns out i had to uninstall my quicktime 7, and reinstall it and then i got video and the device was recognized.

now, i forget where i found this post (that told me this was the answer) but you don’t want to delete all your quicktime 7 files, there are certain ones you want, i believe there was just one that mattered. i apologize for basically not being able to give you the step by step, but sounds like this might do the trick.

  • i’m only using one computer monitor, working out of my bedroom, trying every two frames will require alot of backtracking through some comps, but i’ll give it a try. thanks,

    ignaio

  • i tried rendering with “upper field…” then ” lower field” selected, both produced the same results. i’m working in ntsc, and both fc and ae are set to 29.97. strange? any other suggestions?
    thanks again.

thanks for the info, doesn’t help my pixel situation using keylight though.

  • learning costs much! do any cuts count as a transition? indeed, there will be many jump cuts, very quickly, so i fear i would have to piece these together in ae. thanks for the info…

  • is an NLE sequence and exporting it out to quicktime to AE by REFERENCE something that i would be able to do from final cut’s export using quicktime conversion? thanks for all the info by the way.

perhaps this might help, or maybe you could pull certain elements from it:
