i’m experiencing the same problem chris, albeit a year later practically. i was wondering if you ever found a remedy to this issue. i unfortunately have to use the AE7 project files. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    hope all is well,

thanks so much for replying on a sunday!

-I would however suggest you invest a modest amount of money on a proper disk array, and you’ll be limited to FW800 on the iMac – honestly that’s the biggest drawback, and the inability to add video capture etc.

what do you mean by disk array? are you referring to the configuration i have of my four external hard drives?

is there a difference between the video card on the imac 2.6ghz and the 2.8″ that would make the previous one unable to run final cut pro?

that’s the only selling point the apple people are pushing me from, claiming that the video card won’t support final cut studio.

at this point anything would probably run better than my old g5 that spins the pinwheel more often than i’d like.

    thanks again,

It seems to work with the new footage, but as I’ve noticed the breakage occurs so randomly it will be hard to tell for sure if the ‘new’ export method works until I’ve located the original (broken) FCP clips created for AfterFX and re-export. Thanks again!!

Thanks Joey. I’m trying to find the original FCP file and retrace my steps– I use the same codec for every export which is the Animation preset. The mystery is that I don’t get loss on every file– it happens seemingly sporadically. But I’m going to try it again the way you suggested. Thanks a lot!! I’ll repost after I try it out.

duplicating the layer and using multiply as a transfer mode definitely seems to help.

i’m not so handy with adjusting levels in terms of something this dim. it’s hard for me to notice any difference until it’s too much and then i can’t find an in-between.

i searched the cow for tutorials on this tool, but nothing terribly comprehensive it seems.

does anyone have any recommendations for someone like me who needs a firm grasp on adjusting levels and curves in terms of tutorials and such?

    thanks again,
