  • strobe effect appears different in final cut form ae….

hello, i learned from a previous post on the cow how to achieve a certain strobe effect: effect-channel-invert: toggle hold keyframes. i have a certain amount of clips that flash back and forth every frame (pretty fast). when i bring these clips into final cut, however, they appear different: as opposed to being a clean strobe/ constant flashing, i’m getting frame lines ( a horizontal line ) up and down the screen as if you could see individual frames passing. i’m unable to post an image, because when the image is still you don’t see these lines, only when it’s playing.

i was under the assumption that both ae and fc worked at 29.97 fps unless specified in a preference? i just don’t know what the distinction is between the two programs that’s creating this difference. i’m using fc4 and ae6, i’d appreciate any input. thanks in advance,

it’s seem to be a field problem
do you render your comp whtih the right field preference?
do you work in PAl or NTSC?

AE work by default at 29.97fps you can change it File > Poject settings
be shure your comp and render is in the good format to.

    bye

i tried rendering with “upper field…” then ” lower field” selected, both produced the same results. i’m working in ntsc, and both fc and ae are set to 29.97. strange? any other suggestions?
    thanks again.

i’m only using one computer monitor, working out of my bedroom, trying every two frames will require alot of backtracking through some comps, but i’ll give it a try. thanks,
