Dont feel bad, I bought one of those Modix players and basiclly use it as a storage drive now. I was using it for HD though. Some players wil play DVD iso files great, just like a DVD with the menus. Have you tried that? Danny Hays

just beware of sellers that sound too good to be true. Because they are. I found many sellers that sell the camera body and then try and sell you the normally included accesories. Call and ask if it comes with all the accesories and the one year US warrenty. I payed about $1700.00 a little over a year ago. If you do get one I believe you’ll be very happy with it. Danny Hays

I leave them in regular mode, and use the chromakey effect. Eyedrop the green and play with the faders until desired results are achieved. FYI, there is no spill supression in this plugin so put some space between the subject and the screen and uses some backlight to reduce spill. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

I would go with a tape based HDV camera. I have a Sony HVR-A1U and love it. I payed less for it than my Canon GL1. It uses the .m2t format which most nle’s can handle. Most HDV cameras can also down convert to standard definition DV as well if needed. Vegas pro 8 can handle the hard drive camera files that are AVCHD files but most other nle’s need to have them converted before they can work with them. The reason I say tape based is it’s an inexpensive way to store video but even more important to me is if you record long sections of video without stopping the recording, you have to import the whole thing to your hard drive even if you only want a small part of the video. I believe Vegas sees those cameras as a hard drive and cannot capture just a section of a long clip.

Maybe your event is locked. try right clicking on your event in the timeline, click switches and make sure lock is unchecked.

You need to make Vegas recognise the alpha channel. right click on the video in your project media tab, at the bottom of the media tab, drop the alpha channel dropdown and try the straight (unmatted)
that works best for me. This is with Vegas pro but should work with your program too. Hope this helps Danny Hays -
Do other videos look normal in Vegas? Some computers video display adapters dont work that well with video. Play the videos in Windows media player and see how thay look. There is no loss when capturing through firewire.

It’s a stand alone program that came with CS3 premium or master I believe along with On Location, both windows based.

they’re from my Sony Handcam HDD HD camcorder. I believe the files are AVCHD from that camera. Most NLE’s have a hard time with them, even Sony. They had AVCHD cameras out before the had Sony Vegas excepted them, not until Vegas 8 did it. Converting them to m2t would help alot. I use m2t with AF just fine. There’s a free utility called Gspot that’ll tell you most everything about a video file like format, resolution, frames per sec, GOP structure and codecs used and if their on your computer. Very helpfull to overcome these types of problems. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
