I export the original QT movie from FCP. Don’t know if Adobe Flash is installed within this. How do you do this?

The QT file is then put through Cleaner 5 to convert it to FLV.

    Hi Jimmy,

Haven’t had a lot of experience with this but I fear you might need to convert your footage shot to a format compatible to the AVID. You can do this using the Media Manager in FCP. Your editor could then edit on the AVID and you can always bring that final version back into FCP and re-convert it to 24fps, if this is not available from the AVID.

    Hi Chris,

I get this problem a lot after I had to re-arrange our backing-up process at my current company. Sometimes even moving a file from a folder to a sub-folder can cause a file to go offline. It is strange if it keeps recurring though as once youve connected the files to the current location then it should stay online. Sounds a silly question but do you save the file after youve reconnected the files?

As for the error message, I would ignore it. I often get this error message when I know the media that is offline is the original file from the bin or timeline. I don’t know why it does this but I would disregard it. You can always select Try Again and if nothing happens then just press continue. I’ve found that if you are actually re-connecting a wrong clip then a second error message will come up alerting you to this (although the actual message evades me at this point) and before you press connect, the wrongly connected clips will appear in italics in the bottom window, as opposed to standard text.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem with a recent project and the way we got around it was to export the clip that was artifacting as a image stream of JPEGs. This would not be ideal if you are trying to cross drissolve over but as one of the previous threads mentioned, you could place the next clip on another video level and put the transition over that.

It’s all well and good having some solutions of how to get around it but does anyone know the actual cause of this problem? Is it a bug or is there a setting in FCP that can be applied to prevent this?
