We grade all the plates first then the VFX artists to comp into it. Sometimes just a tech grade to balance things out and Log C -> rec709 conversion and sometimes we do the look also.
If they can’t match then their obviously not a very good VFX artist! Once all the comping is finished then we’ll take it back into the grade for a final grade.
Works well in commercials

You have to buy a replacement. Lost dongle = lost licence. Same applies to Avid etc..

You plug the SDI cable into the HDLink and it gives you DVI our Display Port out. Simple as that!
The HDLink is hardware that connects to the decklink hardware so it works with Resolve/FCP/Avid etc..

I think the ATI card might be your problem. Resolve is optimised for Nvidia CUDA cards and runs a hell of a lot faster on them. Not 100% sure but may be worth thinking about.

I’m pretty sure ALT / CTRL / CMD does this but not sure which one it is as I just do it by muscle memory at this stage!

Just a word of warning to anyone that is using Time Machine as a backup. If Time Machine is backing up while your running resolve there is a strong chance of it not working when you try and restore it as resolve is constantly reading and writing to the postgres database.
To be safe I’d do some dedicated backups when moving systems like this. I wrote a article about all your options if your interested

All I archive is the final render and the project + extras like offline and audio.
If the client want’s me to re-grade anything they will need to re-supply the original drives with the footage on it.
They won’t pay for me to archive all their footage so I won’t waste LTO tapes and time backing it up for them.

You will need to contact the BMD support for that. They will have a SKU code for the cables that you can then order through your local reseller

Can you check the frame rate?
Some monitors have trouble with 25p so 50i is worth a shot.
