Thanks for your help, but we already are familiar with tape or disc and captions. We are stuck on trying to make a file that would play with captions that we can send a station.

    Appreciate your input.

We have MacCaption and we tried spitting out a .scc file and embedding it with a .m2t file in compressor from FCP Studio 2 suite, but it had two main problems. We could not get the video to let us go anything larger than a 640×480 file (which is weird) and the captioning wouldn’t show up though quicktime or any other player this way.

I guess we need to know, can I take a .scc caption file from MacCaption and make a mpeg based file that will retain the caption info so that a TV station could use this file to play over the air and meet FCC caption guidelines. If you know of any place that can describe how to do this through FCP or compressor could you please let me know.

I know its a long post but thanks for the help.

Is it possible with the new version of final cut or compressor to embed closed captions into a file format that can be given to stations? We have some stations asking for a file rather than tape, and we would love to do it but we want to make sure our captions would be on the file and play from the file. We want to upgrade but won’t until we can find out for sure if this is possible. Please advices. Thanks.

Okay, sorry it took me a while to get back with the info. I’ve been busy.

The settings I am using for the Proanimator are as follws:
720×480, Invigirator Renderer, 5×5, Alpha channel on

    FCP is as follows:
    720×480
    Pixel Aspect Ratio – NTSC-CCIR 601/DV (720×480)
    Field Dominance – Lower (Even)
    29.97

Like I said, the imported movie from Proanimator is extremely jumpy. Please let me know if you can help.

    Thanks

Okay, so let me make sure, there is no way to rearrange what order they go to disc after you have already created them? All have to be done in the order you want first? Thanks for your info.

No. Everything on the timeline is shot entirely by the students for projects. That is why it baffles us so much. We have 4 G4 macs, and 2 G5 macs and they all do the same thing. All have their own final Cut package.
