Thanks for the response, Shane! I actually did do the first three episodes in 59.94. I’m just the post guy who came in after the shoot to piece things together, unfortunately, so I had no say in what went on shooting wise but I’m trying to get them to pick one frame rate or the other! 🙂

I also have to deliver master in 29.97 SD 720×480 (DV); this conversion didn’t seem to be bad (I just rendered out in compressor and show timing seemed to be fine), but I just want to make sure I’m doing everything by the book ya know?

Also, I’m somewhat green with HDCam and HDCam-SR. The deck is set to record 720 59.94 but the TC is counting in 29.97. Is that normal? I’m assuming the 59.94 is speaking of fields and the actual frame rate is 29.97, but I just thought I’d ask! Thanks for the help!

Thanks! Judging by how things are going, I think I’ll need it 😉 Thanks again for your input, Walter!

    Thanks for the reply, Walter!
I actually have spoken with ATTO Tech Support; they were the ones who recommended the UL5D for me, as it’s dual channel so it will support the full RAID; yes, it is a SCSI controller, but they said it should be fine for what I needed to do (DVCPro HD editing mainly).
I’ll check with them regarding settings today, but last I dialed into the RAID, there weren’t a whole lot of options for me to choose from, sadly. Thankfully I think these are Medea drives rebranded (Medea is the contact manufacturer on the bottom of the array casing! :)) so I’m glad to hear you’ve had success with them in the past. Thanks again!

Well thanks for the information, Bob! I know the current sync box we’re using doesn’t have a color black output; do you have any boxes you would recommend that you know work well with the A500? Thanks again for all of your help, everybody! Cheer to the COW community!

    Hi Jeremy,
Yea, I’m beginning to think it’s a surge thing. I tried ingesting via component and the same problem was occuring. It’s also coming in pn playback and output now (so it’s just getting progressively worse). I’ve suggested to my boss that we need a power conditioner in the machine rack and in my IO rack; I’m hoping that might fix things. We are running everything off of wall outlets using surge protectors only, so I’m thinking we might just be getting some spikes that are throwing the boxes off. I also tried updating the drivers… to no avail. Thanks for the speedy reply!
